Regulars to this blog may be thinking that it is rapidly becoming a Deep Onion affiliated blog but I would like to remind those who do of the Something Decent tagline: Always original, never sponsored. This is less sponsored content and more a push to advise people of the truth behind what is, in my opinion, the true anonymous crypto currency, which I believe will win the overall private-crypto-war.
Taking out a quick Google search will provide you with a number of people calling this incredibly backed cryptocurrency a scam, and give you half-arsed reasons which fail to justify the accusations.
The fact of the matter is that this is a crypto currency with a solid team of developers and an even more irrefutable community which is backing it. The accusations which are unfairly thrown at this innovative beast are more than likely from those who have significant holdings in other, competing, crypto currencies/companies.
When considering this article, and those before it, you may do well to remember the fact that near enough every cryptocurrency which is successful has been through a phase of being called a scam: Ethereum, Bitcoin, Electroneum and many others. While it is easy to just read the opinions of those who like to shout scam at every chance they get, it would be wise to do your own research into the people behind it before jumping on the fleeting bandwagon.
So, with that in mind I am going to give you some bullet points which, I hope, will help to calm the claims which seem to be floating about places like Medium, Bitcointalk and Steemit.
With no further ado:
Yes that is right, my first and foremost reason which should prove to anyone with doubts about the legitimacy of this currency is the community which is backing it. You have heard of the group mentality in the past, correct? Along with the old saying “how can so many people be wrong”, no? Well that most certainly applies to this cryptocurrency.
As of writing this article the Deep Onion community/forum has well over 10,000 members, the majority of whom are all active and posting regularly. In fact, in the past 24 hours (as of writing this article) there has been well over 100 new threads created on the forum and over 2,500 posts from members within the forum. A quick look at the ‘new members’ section will continuously show you that a significant number of people are flocking to become a part of this ever expanding community.
Further to the fact that the Deep Onion forum is so overwhelmingly active if you take a look at all the polls on various social media websites regarding privacy oriented cryptocurrencies there is barely ever one in which this newly created beast doesn’t come out on top of.
So, you’ve read about the strong community and still aren’t convinced? Well, let’s take a look at the initial distribution of the project’s most valued asset: Onions. The reported total supply of Deep Onion’s Onions is set to be an extremely low amount sitting at just under 20million, 90% of which is pre-mined, leaving the final 10% Onions to be mined for free by all those wishing to let their machinery earn them a piece of the pie.
Of the remaining 90% of coins roughly 70% (12.5 million) will be distributed for free in a series of free airdrops to the general public who are members of the famed Bitciontalk forum. That leaves the final 20% of the coins to be distributed through bounties to help raise awareness.
This might all seem a bit of overkill on the information side of things but I feel I should highlight the importance of the distribution method. By distributing the coins freely to the general public it begs the question: how can this be a scam?
With all the ICO’s starting left right and centre it is hard to label the currency which is freely distributed as one which is trying to scam the public. If you wish to gain free Onions there are numerous avenues which you can take to increase your stack.
The Technology and Development
This is something which regular readers of this blog should already have some knowledge of. The technology being implemented and created by the Deep Onion team is not only innovative and forward thinking but also extremely useful.
As mentioned in my post about the need for privacy, utilising the Tor network to handle all transfers of the currency allows users to be protected from prying eyes who might seek to harm those with a substantial amount of crypto in their name. The need for security is becoming increasingly more apparent in the crypto industry especially is it really is set to disrupt the global banking system
Add to the private transfer of funds the well thought out Deep Vault which allows for incorruptible and private file sharing and you can see the value and hard work put into the project by the team of developers. The uses for the Deep Vault system can be considered to be substantial. Can you imagine being able to send your medical through the admin/receptionist to a doctor and not worry that everyone in the surgery can see you entire medical history? Add to that the case for legal documents to be shared privately in a way which renders them unable to be tampered and you, once again, get an idea of the importance of the work by the development team.
Still Not Convinced?
If you’re still skeptical about the company I would recommend you do further research of them, the community, and the people behind this project. While this is all just my opinion, an opinion which has been attained via consistent research, I genuinely cannot stress enough the importance of doing your own research before writing anything off.
Deep Onion will succeed if you ask me and those calling it a scam will be proven to be FUD’ing and then left with pie on their faces.
